Re-signing for your archive

Technical developments in the field of electronic signatures are continually progressing, just like all other areas. The methods and means of producing signatures (such as specially authorized algorithms) are affected by this development.

In order to ensure that the algorithms satisfy the increasing technical requirements, these are checked annually by the Federal Office for Security in Information Technology. Suitable algorithms are then approved by the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA). They can be used to produce qualified signatures in accordance with the signature law.

Data that has already been signed using the "old" algorithms must be signed again before expiry of validity with the "new" algorithms. This is the only way of protecting the signature and the data in the long-term. This process is generally called "subsequent signing".

During the last change of algorithms in the year 2007, millions of signed documents were successfully re-signed and evidence was maintained with the help of the AuthentiDate solutions and qualified timestamps from the accredited AuthentiDate Trust Center.

ArchiSig – concept for re-signing
For re-signing, qualified timestamps from the Authentidate Trust Center are required. AuthentiDate additionally offers various processes in order to re-sign the signed data with the qualified timestamps.

AuthentiDate is the only company which can supply the Fraunhofer software, ArchiSoft, and qualified timestamps from one source.

ArchiSoft – software for re-signing
The Fraunhofer Institute developed the ArchiSig method on the basis of the ArchiSoft software for re-signing. AuthentiDate is the official Fraunhofer Institute sales partner and therefore offers the ArchiSoft software and the additional required qualified timestamps from one source.

We are pleased to support you with the integration of ArchiSoft and bring our experience from previously implemented ArchiSoft projects.
